The Importance of Reciprocity in Psychedelics and Human Culture

We, as a humanity, are being called back towards engagement, relation, and co-creation with Earth based medicines at this time.  Our evolution has spurred an awakening, a remembrance to reconnect with our intrinsic spirituality and exploration of consciousness.  It is the last frontier to discover, the inner terrain, one which has long been ignored and forgotten.  The accoutrements of modern society were created as a distraction and divestment from that which truly nourishes us as human beings.  These medicines are not molecules to be dissected, analyzed, or utilized, these medicines are a reminder, a homecoming for the long lost psyche of human kind.  It is through the return to this inherent connection, which Paul Stamets calls our birthright that we shall begin to realize the innate Oneness which connects us all.

Part of recognizing this Oneness is understanding the delicately balanced ecosystem which sustains life and how we must remain constantly aware that to truly receive requires that we give back.  When we receive medical services do we not reciprocate with financial transaction, why then should it be different to the necessary exchange implicated when engaging with medicines that come from the Earth Herself.  This is unity consciousness, the sacred hoop of life, which when broken creates a system out of balance, benefiting few through the effort of many.  This circle goes beyond human life and stretches outwards into the terrain of mother nature whose invisible web provides for all.  We are living in ominous times because we have greatly ignored this network and it’s needs to be consistently nourished and cared for.  We have become parasites sucking dry the resources which sustain us, realizing only on the brink of our own destruction, that which we have neglected to acknowledge.  We are a part of something much bigger than ourselves and when we don’t care for this ecosystem we fail not only ourselves as species, but also the greater whole.  Psychedelic medicines are expanding our hearts, consciousness, and nervous systems restoring a state of reconnection where we may begin to realize the repercussions of our every action, returning to the sacred circle of reciprocity where giving sustains living.

Due to a contrived, deprived, and disconnected system of scarcity we have long been taking without conscious recognition for that which we have received and that imbalance has taken a dire toll.  We are living in a time of disparity returning to divine order and as such we need participate or otherwise be left behind.

Reciprocity is evolution, it demonstrates the greater understanding that although we may not see the immediate consequences or return on our actions, that they still very much occur oftentimes outside the realm of our understanding.  And so, it is in this frame of mind and heart centered awareness which we need operate if we do not wish to replicate the same ramifications within the psychedelic community.  Many of these medicines come directly from the Earth, pieces of her morphogenic consciousness that we incorporate into our bodily systems in an effort to reconnect with these parts of self.  It is imperative then that we do so with gratitude and a mindful effort to give back from that which we have acquired.  For to give is yet another way to receive.
